I love chocolate and cherry blossom (Sakura) season. I am so excited to combine and share my two favourite things for cherry blossom season 2026! Here are three cherry blossom-flavoured chocolates you must try.
*I do not have any partnerships or affiliates with these brands. These are my honest views. I just love chocolate.
Kitkat Cherry Blossom (Sakura)
Did you know KitKat was once produced by Rowntree's in York, the UK capital of chocolate? The chocolate-covered wafer bar has been on the go since 1935 and today is produced by Nestlé. More than 1 billion KitKat products are eaten in the UK each year! After a few trips to York this past year, I had to start with the KitKat Cherry Blossom.
It is said there are between 300 - 400 different flavours of KitKat (mostly in Japan). Kit Kat struck gold in Japan when it arrived in 1973 because of its lucky-sounding name. In Japanese, Kit Kat or Kitto Katto sounds a lot like Kitto Katsu, the Japanese phrase for “you’ll certainly win.” Ever since then, these chocolate-coated wafers have become a huge hit in Japan. Did you know some of the unique seasonal and regional flavours found in Japan are illegal in the UK (If they contain ingredients, additives, or food colourings not approved for use in the UK, such as Red 40, also called Allura Red AC (or simply E129)?
Ingredients: Quasi Chocolate (Sugar, Lactose, Vegetable Oil, Whole Milk Powder, Cocoa Butter), wheat flour, vegetable oil, lactose, sugar, soy flour (contain soy beans), cherry leaf powder, salt, cocoa powder, yeast, cocoa mass, whole milk powder, cocoa butter/emulsifier, flavourings, colourings (red beet, red yeast malt).
This limited-edition cherry blossom chocolate from KitKat is a white chocolate-covered wafer biscuit with a lovely subtle floral sakura blossom flavour. I bought mine from Starry Mart based in Colchester, with shops across London, Kent and more. The bag of nine pieces took 5 days to arrive. £4.55 plus £3.99 postage.
Will you try the KitKat Cherry Blossom limited-edition chocolate?
Lindt Sakura Chocolates
It all started back in the 1800s when David Sprüngli’s created chocolate in Zurich. He was soon known as one of the best chocolate manufacturers. Meanwhile, in Berne (1879), Rodolphe Lindt, the son of a pharmacist, had just started a small confectionery. It was this year that the invention of conching was discovered and the delicious delicate unresistable Lindt smooth chocolate fondant centres that we all know and love.
When Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann stepped down, he divided the company between his two sons, Johann Rudolf Sprünli-Schifferli and David Robert Sprüngli-Baud in 1892. In 1899 Johann Rudolf Sprüngli offered to buy Lindt for an impressive 1.5 million gold francs – the Lindt brand and the secret recipe Lindt agreed under the condition that he still had a say in the business. The perfect partnership was born until Sprüngli fully ran the business.
Lindt Home of Chocolate opened its doors on the 175th anniversary in 2013. Located at the headquarters in Kilchberg, it houses interactive exhibits, a research and pilot plant, the world’s largest chocolate shop, a café and chocolateria designed especially for chocolate courses. As the Home of Chocolate, it is no surprise that it also has one of the world’s largest chocolate fountains!
