Thermal Pools
Updated: Mar 11
One of the world's most famous thermal pools is the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, but did you know there are many more? Created by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater that rises from the earth's crust. While some are so hot that bathing would result in injury or death, here are some that are tranquil, soothing, and good for mind, body & soul.

The Worlds Most Relaxing Thermal Hot Spring Pools
Poring Thermal Springs
Poring is located south of Kinabalu National Park in Borneo, with the Poring Hot Springs one of the must-visit attractions. We took a day trip from the National Park but you can also stay at the Sutera Sanctuary Lodges. It is an ideal location to relax and explore the area with a tree canopy walkway, a butterfly farm, and possibly see the Rafflesia. One of the world's largest flowers!
We ran out of time but would go back in a heartbeat. It's a beautiful location with beautiful people and great food too at the Rainforest Restaurant!

Beitou Hot Springs, Taiwan
One of the most popular places to enjoy the hot springs in Taiwan is the town of Beitou. An easy day trip from Taipei. The town is buzzing with activity from the public hot springs, to the Liuhuanggu Sulphur Valley. The oldest hot spring in Beitou is now a museum (was due to re-open in October 2018 after restoration work).
