Just heard that the advance tickets are now on sale for this magical event - Enchanted Forest.
This event takes place but once a year, for the whole month of October in the quaint town of Pitlochry.
Pitlochry is situated in Perthshire, 75 minutes drive from Edinburgh. It can easily be reached by bus and also train. The town is surrounded by the most beautiful and scenic landscapes, crisp clean air and in the local restaurants you can find fresh local produce. Some of the other highlights of Pitlochry is the Salmon Ladder, and close by to The House of Bruar. There are also various events throughout the year. Some of the local wildlife that you many encounter are Red Squirrels, Pine Martins and Osprey.
The area is lovely to visit all year round but my favorite is autumn. The array of coloured foliage is very dramatic. Sitting at the Old Mill Inn you can enjoy the brisk colourful days with heart warming pumpkin soup.
The event is well organised with the meeting point being at Fishers Hotel on the main street. Once you have signed in, you will be allocated to a bus. The bus journey is only 10 minutes.
On arrival you have ample time to wonder through the illuminated forest, with orchestrated music. As you make your way around on the bark pathways you can take in the coloured water features and other surprises on route.
We timed our visit to coinside with Halloween, on arrival back in the town centre we were able to see some ghostly sights. The pumkins were allight and glowing, the sweet smell wafting through the air, just to divine to resist. There was a marquee set up with a number of delights , including hot chocolate, toasted mashmallows, baked potatos and of course lots of Pumpkin.
Now that we were well feed, time for the leisurely walk back to the train station, for the train back to Edinburgh.
